Here is the whole journey for your dog or cat, from France to the United Kingdom: every document, in the order to tackle it, with how early to begin. Plan to start about a month before travel.

Into Great Britain from the EU. Dogs need a tapeworm treatment 24 to 120 hours before arrival; no quarantine when the steps are met in order.

This is a rabies-controlled route. Some destinations add a blood titer and a waiting period, which is the single biggest driver of how early to start.

   Microchip

   The microchip comes first. The rabies record is only valid if the chip was already in place when it was given.

   Rabies vaccination

   Great Britain asks for the same 21-day wait after the rabies shot. We line the travel date up on the safe side of it.

   At least 21 days must pass after vaccination before travel.

   A 21-day waiting period follows this step before travel is allowed. We count every day for you.

   Parasite treatment

   A quick tapeworm tablet in a tight window before arrival is the last box to tick for dogs heading to Britain.
