Terms of Service
Last updated: July 24, 2026
Draft pending review. Details shown in [brackets] will be completed before this notice is final.
These Terms govern access to and use of Pawport (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to them; if you use the Service for an organization, you accept them for that organization and confirm you are authorized to do so.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [LEGAL FORM], registered office [REGISTERED OFFICE ADDRESS], registered under [COMPANY REGISTER AND REGISTRATION NUMBER] ("Pawport", "we", "us").
2. What Pawport is
Pawport is a managed marketplace for cross-border pet relocation. Pet owners build a pet and move profile and request quotes; a panel of vetted, insured transporters quotes against it; the owner accepts a quote and books. Pawport coordinates the move and provides the documents workspace, the message thread, escrow payment, and status updates. Pawport is not itself the carrier: the transport is performed by the independent transporter you book, and this is a booking-and-payment intermediary service, not a contract of carriage with us [CONFIRM THE INTERMEDIARY CHARACTERIZATION AND ANY CARRIER-LIABILITY POSITION WITH COUNSEL].
3. Transporter vetting, and what it does and does not mean
Transporters are vetted before they can quote: we check business registration, insurance evidence, and references, and apply a probation period, with continuing review. Vetting is a meaningful screen, not a guarantee: it does not make Pawport responsible for a transporter's acts or omissions, and it is not a warranty of any specific outcome. You contract with the transporter for the transport itself.
4. Accounts and access
Sign-in is passwordless, by a single-use magic link to your email. You are responsible for activity under your account and for protecting the inbox that receives your sign-in links.
5. Quotes, booking, and escrow
A quote states a price and its inclusions for a specific move. When you accept a quote and pay, your payment is held in escrow and released to the transporter after delivery is confirmed; Pawport charges a booking fee and a platform commission, disclosed to you before you pay. Amounts and escrow movements are recorded in an immutable ledger. Payment is processed by our payment provider; you authorize the charge when you book.
6. Cancellations, refunds, and disputes
Cancellations and refunds are governed by the Animal Welfare and Refund Policy at /animal-welfare, which forms part of these Terms. In summary: a refund reverses the escrow and reclaims any released payout, and opening a dispute freezes the release while it is reviewed. The specific cancellation windows and any fees are set out in that policy [FINAL CANCELLATION WINDOWS AND FEE SCHEDULE PENDING].
7. Your responsibilities as an owner
You are responsible for the accuracy of the pet and move information you provide, for your pet being fit to travel, and for meeting the veterinary and documentary requirements of your route. The documents workspace and validity checks are decision support, not a legal guarantee of admissibility: the authorities of the origin, transit and destination countries decide admissibility, and requirements can change.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the Service other than to arrange or perform a genuine pet move; harass another user; misrepresent a pet's health or eligibility, or a transporter's credentials; probe, scan, or disrupt the Service, or access it other than through its interfaces; or scrape or republish transporter, review, or register data as a product of your own.
9. Transporter terms
If you use the Service as a transporter, you additionally agree to quote and perform only within your legal registrations and insurance, to keep your vetting evidence current, to carry animals in line with applicable welfare and carriage rules, and to record status honestly. Payouts settle to your connected payment account after delivery is confirmed, net of the platform commission, and are subject to reversal on a refund or an upheld dispute.
10. Content and reviews
You keep the rights to the content you submit and grant us the licence needed to operate the Service (for example to show your review with your move). We may remove content that breaches these Terms. Reviews are tied to completed, paid moves and must be honest.
11. Intellectual property
The Service, its software and design, and the Pawport brand belong to [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] and its licensors. These Terms grant you no rights in them beyond using the Service.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the maximum extent permitted by law, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-interruption. Pawport does not warrant that a move will be free of delay or incident, that a document will be accepted by an authority, or that a transporter will perform.
13. Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, or data. Our total aggregate liability arising out of the Service is limited to [LIABILITY CAP, e.g. the fees Pawport earned on the booking in question]. Liability for the transport itself, including for injury to or loss of an animal, rests with the transporter and its insurance, per section 2 [CONFIRM WITH COUNSEL]. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
14. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or use that creates risk or legal exposure, without affecting a move already in transit, which we will help bring to a safe conclusion.
15. Changes
We may update the Service and these Terms as the product and the regulations evolve. Material changes are announced to account holders; continued use after they take effect is acceptance.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of [GOVERNING LAW JURISDICTION], and the courts of [FORUM] have jurisdiction, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections where they apply.
